On March 30th, Kaiser Student Body Leadership (our amazing project leads: Karis Sensano, Sala Yasumi, Callie Yoshihiro!) is hosting a community-wide service event, "Aloha in Action", for all the schools and keiki across Maunalua. Kaiser IB Complex schools will be hosting their own service projects and coming together for a potluck in the afternoon at the Kaiser cafeteria.
Project Aims: Through this single act of collaborative volunteerism, we aim to connect and unite our schools, make a positive impact on our community, and inspire in our keiki and faculty a strengthened sense of belonging to our home of Maunalua and a lifelong commitment to service and civic engagement.
Our Service!: Kaiser's community service project will be in partnership with our long-time community partner, non-profit 808 Clean-Ups, at Irmas Beach along the Kaiwi Shoreline (*up by Sandy's, but more toward Makapu'u). We'd like to welcome students to sign-up if they haven't already! We'll be doing lots of restoration work, planting native Hawaiian plants and clearing invasive trees. Volunteers are asked to arrive by 8:30 for a start at 9 a.m. The service event will be over by 12:00 p.m. at the latest.
Location: If you search "Kaloko Beach" on GoogleMaps it'll pop right up. If you're driving from Kalama Valley and heading toward the beach, turn left at the light onto Kalanianaole Hwy. It'll be about 100 yards up on the right. Parking available.
Potluck: Following our service morning, we're hosting a potluck in partnership with the PTSA groups from each school and with generous donations from families and restaurants in the community. The potluck will begin at 5:00pm, though the doors open for food drop-offs at 2:00pm as needed. We do not have a refrigerator, so please bring cold items closer to 5:00pm. We will have a short program planned to celebrate the wonderful work our keiki contributed
