On March 30th, 2024, an extraordinary event took place in Maunalua Ahupuaʻa. Over 250 students and families from all across the Kaiser complex came together as stewards and caretakers of the community of Maunalua, joining the efforts put forth by our partnering organizations: 808 cleanups, Mālama Maunalua, Livable Hawaii Kai Hui, Maunalua Fish Pond Heritage Center and Lunalilo Home. Our wonderful public schools played a vital role as leaders for this project, inspiring our community’s haumana to get involved. A huge mahalo goes out to all the volunteer teachers, coordinators and staff, and the haumana and ʻohana who came out from Kamiloʻiki Elementary, Koko Head Elementary, Hahaʻione Elementary, ʻĀina Haina Elementary, Niu Valley Middle School, and Kaiser High School! We're so proud of all the work our schools continue to do to teach sustainability and place based education through authentic teaching practices and working together. We love Maunalua!
