Chef Roy Yamaguchi met our culinary teacher, Chef Mari, at a workshop and he was interested in learning how DOE cafeterias are run as he plans to work with the DOE to help train cooks this summer at the new Culinary Institute of the Pacific. The advanced culinary class was then treated to a meet and greet with Chef Roy as he shared insights of the culinary industry.
To celebrate the 50th Anniversary of the Hōkūleʻa, Nainoa Thompson gave a special evening presentation in our cafeteria about the humble beginnings and the birth of the Hōkūleʻa.
