COUGARS TRAVEL CLOSE UP TO WASHINGTON D.C.
Two students from Kaiser travelled to Washington, D.C. through the Close Up Foundation.  Kaealani Caruso (10th grade) and Sophia Megal (11th grade) spent a week with high school students from around the country learning about and exploring the nation's capital.   Along with students from Iolani High School, they had separate half-hour long meetings with Congressman Ed Case, Senator Mazie Hirono, and Senator Brian Schatz, who all took time talking with them about current issues.  They also got to explore the Smithsonian museums and many of the national monuments.  Finally, they worked with their peers in conducting a mock congress in which they crafted and passed legislation.
